Pasadena HS Model A Club

To All SAA Members:
At our November meeting of the Santa Anita A’s, the program that evening was an overview of the new Pasadena High School Model A Club led by our Youth Outreach Coordinator, Wilbert Smith. The program included introductions and short presentations from the staff at Pasadena High School and the current president of the Pasadena High School Model A Club. Wilbert then presented a video highlighting the year-to-date progress of the new club.
Many club members were not able to attend and perhaps might enjoy seeing the presentation now!

Pasadena High School Model A Ford Club (PHSMAFC) Car Raffle, 2019

By Wilbert Smith PhD. Club Advisor
The Pasadena High School Model A Ford Club (PHSMAFC) is restoring a 1929 Model A Roadster to be given to one lucky family on April 20, 2019. That’s right! One grand prizewinner will own a beautiful roadster restored by the only model a club located on any high school campus in the nation. PHS club members begin as early as the ninth grade, potentially enjoying four years of hands-on membership. Students, who early on could not identify a screwdriver or wrench, now eagerly operate power tools. They understand the elements of the Model A engine, its interior, while preparing the car’s body in preparation for paint. Participation is equally strong among both boys and girls, however our president and vice president just happen to be female.
Pasadena High School “Remembrance” Concert and Model A Roadster Raffle

On behalf of Pasadena High School and the Pasadena High School Model A Ford Club, we wish to thank those that attended our first annual benefit concert. Last year we had a blast as very talented artist brought their Las Vegas quality show to Pasadena. The show’s finale was the car raffle giveaway, where the Art Moore family, members of the Santa Anita A’s, took home the grand prize, the high school club’s restored 1928 Model A Ford Phaeton.

This year during our second annual benefit concert, we hope to not only fill the auditorium, but to raffle off our current project, a 1929 Model A Roadster. This Friday, we will have available both show tickets and Model A Raffle tickets. One raffle entry will be provided for each $100 contribution. Show tickets are also available for $35 each.

Our fabulous performers will take us back to simpler times as they perform Doo-Wop and Classic Oldies using their unique style and blend. Artist such asThe Midniters, whose roots are grounded in early East Los Angeles, The Platters featuring Elmer Armstrong, and the original Delfonicswhoseexceptional harmony keeps them as popular today as ever.

Also, returning this year by popular demand is the very talented Rem J who will perform as Michael Jackson. Last yearRem Jappeared to be the audience’s unofficial favorite, one fan adding, “it was hard to believe you were not watching the King of Pop himself!”

If attending a comparable Las Vegas style show one would expect to pay much more, but instead, Las Vegas is coming to Pasadena one day only for a mere $35 contribution. So grab your partner and journey through a fabulous evening not soon forgotten! And remember, all proceeds are earmarked for a great cause. Wouldn’t it be nice if we each of us shared this opportunity with our Facebook, Email, Twitter, and Instagram family and friends?

We sincerely appreciate your support!

Cheers,
